Self Care…

Howdi 👋

That’s another week almost done! How has it been for you? Good I am hoping 🤞 I hope you all had a wonderful Easter and long weekend!

So this weekly dose of blogging is about self care.

I don’t know about you but I don’t make time enough, I am generally busy 🤣🤣 My idea of self care will most likely be different compared to Jane down the road Haha.

One thing I do every morning though without fail is meditate, do 10/20 mins of Tai Chi and write down my 10 things I am grateful for. That’s pretty much it!

The odd time I’ll stick a face mask on while I’m relaxing in a bubble bath listening to an audio book. But other than that, that’s it!

So what is Self Care? Let’s look at the definition below…

We tend to not prioritise Self Care for ourselves. Life gets busy doesn’t it. Whether it’s being rushed off our feet at work, looking after the kids etc you name it. Our days are generally always taken up.

Being a mum myself, I find guilt creeps up if I want to take time out for myself. We generally put everyone else first, everyone else becomes our priority which at some point ends up leaving us feeling burnt out, overwhelmed, tired, stressed & low mood.

I have compiled a list of Self Care ideas that are inexpensive, it’ll give you some ideas incase. Sometimes when we think of things our minds go blank (mine definitely does haha)

  1. Positive Affirmations ~ that’s right! I want you to look in the mirror and tell yourself how much of an amazing person you are. Because you are! It’ll feel weird initially but you’ll get the hang of it!
  2. Gratitude List ~ I have already shared with you that this is one of the things I do every morning. Write 10 things you’re grateful for before you start your day (do it while you’re having your morning coffee/cup of tea) It really sets you up for the day!
  3. Bubble Bath ~ Grab a book and go have a nice soak for half hour. Maybe add some essential oils to your bath and simply relax.
  4. Face Mask ~ Give your skin some extra TLC and it’ll also leave your face feeling silky smooth.
  5. Go for a walk ~ Head out to nature, go to a local park and find a park bench. Just sit. Feel the sun on your skin, or the breeze on your face, listen to the birds or just watch the trees sway in the breeze.
  6. Write 5 things you love about yourself ~ This is a really good confidence booster.
  7. Vision Board ~ This is really fun to do. You could even get the whole family involved.
  8. Journal ~ Sometimes all we need is to just write in our beautiful notebook and offload everything onto paper.
  9. Have a laugh ~ Have you got a favourite movie that has you giggling? I do! Ones I always laugh to are Bridemaids & Just Go With It.
  10. Paint your toe nails ~ warmer weather is here so pick out a favourite colour to paint your nails ready for getting those sandals out!
  11. Light your favourite candle ~ fills your home with your favourite scent
  12. Listen to your favourite Podcast
  13. Listen to music & have a dance about
  14. Read a book
  15. Meditate ~ I do this every morning and honestly I feel so much better since doing it.
  16. Have a day off ~ sometimes the best therapy we need is to simply have a day off. PJ’s & snuggle blanket & binge watch a series on Netflix.

There are lots of other things you can do aswell, maybe have a lunch date with friends or go to the beach and watch the sunset.

What do you do for self care? I’d love to know. Do you make sure you get that time? Or are you like me, as and when you have time Haha (apart from my non negotiable morning routine)

I hope you’ve enjoyed this blog post, I’d love to know what you think.

Self Care is good for your soul and gives us that bit of a recharge.

Until next week, take care

Hannah xx
